Understanding the Points System

The points system is the foundation of Metricgram's gamification feature. Here is how it works.

How Points Are Earned

Members earn points through the actions enabled in Tools > Gamification:

• Messages -- points per message sent.
• Reactions -- points for reactions registered on a user's messages.
• Streaks -- bonus for consecutive activity.
• Daily activity -- points for the first, second, and third configured daily action.
• Extra points -- manual points granted to specific users.

Customizing Point Values

You can adjust point values from the actions tab:

• Enable or disable messages, reactions, streaks, and daily activity.
• Set the points awarded by each action.
• Configure daily caps for messages and reactions.
• Configure the maximum streak days counted for bonuses.

Daily Caps

Set a maximum number of points per member per day to:

• Prevent spam -- members cannot game the system by sending hundreds of messages
• Level the field -- casual participants can still compete over time
• Encourage quality -- once the cap is hit, focus shifts from quantity to quality

Extra Points

From the ranking screen you can grant extra points to specific users. This is useful for manual contests, offline contributions, or one-off community rewards.

Tips

• Review point distributions monthly to ensure the system feels fair.
• Announce point milestones in the group to create excitement.
