Setting Up the Metricgram Bot
Setting Up the Metricgram Bot
The Metricgram bot is the bridge between your Telegram group and the Metricgram platform. Here is how to configure it correctly.
Adding the Bot
- From your Metricgram dashboard, navigate to the group you want to configure.
- Click on "Bot Settings" in the group menu.
- The bot username will be displayed. Search for it in Telegram and add it to your group.
Required Permissions
Make sure the bot has these admin permissions enabled:
- Delete messages -- needed for moderation features
- Ban users -- needed for member management
- Invite users via link -- needed for invitation features
- Pin messages -- needed for announcements and summaries
- Manage topics -- optional, only for forum-style groups
Bot Behavior
- The bot processes messages in real time to track activity and engagement metrics.
- It responds to configured triggers and commands.
- It will never send unsolicited messages unless you configure automations like welcome messages or scheduled posts.
Privacy Mode
By default, Telegram bots have privacy mode enabled, meaning they only see messages that mention them or are commands. Metricgram requires privacy mode to be disabled so it can track group activity. The bot will prompt you if this setting needs to be changed.
